The process

Simple, guided, and designed around you.

Mediation doesn't have to be intimidating. Here's exactly what happens from the moment you reach out to the moment you move forward.

01

Reach out

Tell me a little about the situation — who's involved, what's at stake, and what you're hoping for. There's no judgment here, and no pressure to have it all figured out. A brief overview is all I need to get started.

You can reach out via my booking form or contact page. I typically respond within a few hours. Feel free to book a free 15-minute consultation — it's a no-pressure way to see if mediation is right for your situation.

02

I prepare the space

Before your session, I review the context you've shared and prepare a neutral, structured environment for the conversation. Both parties are invited to join — each from wherever they are.

All sessions are held virtually via secure video call. No travel, no waiting rooms, no shared physical space required.

03

The guided conversation

I open the session by setting clear ground rules: respect, honesty, and a shared commitment to resolution. Each person has uninterrupted time to speak. I guide — never judge, never take sides.

Sessions typically run 60–90 minutes. If more time is needed, we'll discuss options together.

04

A path forward

By the end of the session, most participants leave with a shared understanding — and often a concrete agreement on next steps. You won't be left wondering what happens next.

A written summary of any agreements reached can be provided upon request.

My approach

Mediation built on three principles

Neutrality

I'm an unbiased third party. My role is to ensure each voice is heard and the conversation stays productive. My goal is for you to end the meeting with new agreements, boundaries, and hope.

Confidentiality

Everything shared in a session stays in the session. Mediation is a private process — not a legal proceeding, not a public record.

Autonomy

You and the other party reach your own resolution. The mediator facilitates — the outcome belongs to you.

Scope of services & disclaimer

What KCP provides — and what it does not

KCP Conflict Resolution provides mediation, conflict-resolution facilitation, and communication coaching services. These services are intended to help participants communicate effectively, understand differing perspectives, identify areas of agreement and disagreement, and develop their own mutually acceptable solutions.

Not legal representation or advice

KCP Conflict Resolution does not provide legal representation or legal advice. Nothing communicated during a session should be interpreted as legal advice or as a recommendation concerning anyone's legal rights or obligations. Participants who have questions regarding their legal rights or responsibilities should consult a qualified attorney.

Not therapy, counseling, or medical services

KCP Conflict Resolution does not provide psychotherapy, counseling, mental-health treatment, medical services, or diagnosis. Conflict-resolution and communication coaching are not substitutes for services provided by licensed mental-health or healthcare professionals.

No diagnosis, no judgment, no guaranteed outcome

The facilitator does not diagnose mental-health conditions, determine who is "right" or "wrong," or guarantee that participants will reach an agreement or achieve any particular outcome.

Participants remain responsible for their own decisions and for determining whether any proposed resolution is appropriate for them.

Common questions

What people ask before they book

Does the other person have to agree to mediation?

Yes — mediation works best when both parties come willingly. If you're unsure whether the other person would be open to it, reach out to me first. I can help you think through how to approach the conversation.

How quickly can we get a session?

I prioritize fast scheduling. Most sessions are booked within the week, and same-day availability occasionally exists. The sooner you reach out, the sooner I can help.

What if we don't reach an agreement?

Not every session ends with an agreement — and that's okay. Even without a formal resolution, most participants leave with greater clarity, reduced tension, and a better understanding of each other's perspectives. Each person will leave with homework and/or steps to follow.

Is this the same as therapy or legal advice?

No. Mediation is neither therapy nor legal counsel. It's a structured, facilitated conversation aimed at resolving a specific conflict. If legal or therapeutic support is needed, I'll say so.

What do I need for a virtual session?

A device with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, and a private space where you can speak freely. That's it.

Ready to take the first step?

Reaching out is the hardest part. Everything after that, we handle together.
